Large Indian Journey - Darjeeling

So, our route - Kalimpong, Darjeeling. We rode in jeeps, minibuses - that's actually how they look.

of the bus windows have seen those same tea fields and tea pickers, but to shoot normally not possible, unfortunately.

minibus makes one stop, so you can stretch your legs, go to the bathroom, eat. We were greeted by the local villagers.

By the way, the meat is eaten, judging from everything :)

It is important plate - in this cafe, you can pee in a relatively normal toilet inside :)

A is inside the cafe.

A window of the cafe opened us a fantastic view. Either before it was cloudy, or trees everywhere along the road obscured, but here we first saw her - Kangchenjunga - top height 8586 meters, the third tallest in the world.
I just can not put into words this feeling - I had never seen mountains so high tops that they rise above the clouds, and the eye at first just wondering - how it is possible at all, it's there - so high.
I'm afraid, photos can not convey this feeling, but at the moment I just have tears in my eyes welled up at the sight. We were told that we are lucky, because usually the tip covered with clouds. In this we have seen, because it seemed to us again the next day and all the more because of the fog and cloud cover, we have not seen her.

Bus brought us to Darjeeling on the w / d station.

We decided to find a hotel right away, throw things, and to look around. As a result, hotel search took us half a day. No, there is a huge amount of them. Simply, we were so impressed by the beauty of the species, which would find it with large windows overlooking the mountains :) And to the bottom of the houses were - well, it is beautiful, in general :) like this:

While looking for, plunged into the streets of the city ...

We strolled through the market ...

Watch the school playground ...

to take pictures of children ...

And not only children, but also other colorful local characters.

Returning to the main street, we met a locomotive that runs between Siliguri and Darjeeling, and realized that it should definitely go for a ride.

Finally, already completely exhausted, found refuge - still glad that did not settle into the first place, because we have found a really dream room :)

With just such a view from the window ...

And so on the other side :)

And in this courtyard. I must say, by local standards, the hotel is not cheap, but since almost everywhere you can bargain, we got rid of a decent price. But even if we did not go to the meeting - still want to stay there - was a quirk here - wake up at dawn, open the window, and there ... but more on that later ...

In the meantime, throwing things, we went for a walk down the streets. The city is built on the slopes of the mountains, and tripping along the streets are very steep. The local must be perfectly trained legs and heart.

This is a type of pedestrian areas - local and tourists come there, all sitting on a bench talking, bask in the sun .. .

And everywhere in large quantities are rolls - sleeping dogs :) They are so many and they are almost always sleeping, curled up so Kalach.

B / W zarisovochka.

An evening stroll through the market and bought all small things, including clothes - because do not calculate that is so sharply colder, and at night, and even more so. Irina, a friend of mine bought a hat and gloves, and not a drop of it has not regretted.

Since even in the hotel room to remove the cap has not wanted. I had to sleep in a warm sweater, socks and blankets at all possible. Electric heater could not cope, it is still in the room was a hell of a Dubakov.

And in the morning they woke up ... I started the spices alarm clock to get up at dawn. And not a bit sorry. View from the window was just amazing ... Morning fog, slightly illuminated rays of dawn, still high in the sky and the moon turning pink top Kachendzhangi that showed exactly 3 minutes and went into the clouds.

And the silence ...

finally awoke from such a beautiful and cold, decided to go to a Buddhist monastery. We drove a truck driver.

Yes, the way in Darjeeling cork hoo.

At the monastery. The night before we were offered a formal tour, but we decided to go independently. And no mistake. During official trips to the territory stuffed hundreds of people standing fuss was about and no sense of peace and tranquility naturally can not wait. We are wonderful walk, talked with the monks, saw their way of life.

Climbed somewhere on the roof and admire the view of Darjeeling.

And it is inside the temple.

The book is in the temple, such as book reviews, we think there is also something to write.

Conversation with another monk, and he led us to show how to make incense. Incidentally, I did not even know that this is so: first, are dried aromatic herbs, then they are ground into a fine-fine dust and moistened with water to give this here "test".

The monks of this dough is kneaded by hand until smooth.

And further pounded in a mortar.

Then this "test" is passed through a "meat grinder."

It turns long, long sausage.

sausage cut into slices and dried.

Voila - that they stick :)

Back at the hotel, breakfast noodles ...

... and went to the w / d station - a ride on the steam train, plying along the narrow gauge railway through the mountains and villages.
