Feral Lapland - Ranua
• Feral Lapland - Ranua
The magical realm of Santa Claus in Lapland lives a lot of his northern friends, and so we do not run around in the woods in the desire to see at least one of them, they dwelt, are believed to be the world's northernmost zoo "Ranua Zoo". In this park we are waiting for about 60 species of northern residents, from owls - to polar bears.

The road to Ranua Zoo from the house of Santa Claus in Rovaniemi takes about an hour, about 80 km away by car.

The first person I met, because it is a fan of cold baths - the otter.

Ranua - not just a zoo, but a hospital for animals are treated and nursed them. After recovery, if the pet is able to continue an independent life in the wild, its release into the wild.

The fifth house for an unknown feathered Ptah, these "cottages" for many small birds.

The birds live in large cages, covered with netting.

It's nice when the photo is obtained without nets and fences, feeling wholly live wildlife.

And here is the polar bears, they are three: the father, mother and cub Umka :)

Mom and Umka. Ranua became one of the zoos, where he was born polar bear.

You can ride with icy hill, or just soak up the sun on the snow.

You can come here not for one day, a great cottage property offers a lot of different entertainment in addition to the zoo. Winter - snowmobiling, reindeer and dog sledding, ski slopes, in the summer - ATVs, hiking for mushrooms and berries.

Brown bears usually hibernate in the winter in their den, but most of the other inhabitants of the zoo is just in his best form at this time of year.

That's the trick of begging toed apple.

The degree of freedom trying to do as much as possible, animals are in large enclosures, approximate to the natural habitat.

Earlier talking raven lived here, but it was old and to everyone's regret died. But now lives the other crows, which emits sounds of chainsaws, but again, this bike I have heard from Ranua worker and very raven never had the chance to listen to.

Wolves refused to pose at all, all gone.

Kisya.

Lynx felines, the northernmost cat, found even in the Arctic Circle.

And that first time I saw the beast, although it is not often heard - wolverine, a predator of the weasel family that looks more like a bear.

A disproportionately large paws help to walk through deep powdery snow.

So how do without a smile for the photo!

Moose did not want to come close to, their leader refused to rise at all, he recently cut down the horns, as I have explained, it is of the ports tree.

Attempts to save the trees from scrapie elk - tight trunks tied with thick branches.

Polar Kuma Lisa - fox.

Arctic fox is widespread in the Arctic Circle, on the coast of the Arctic Ocean, in the tundra and forest tundra zones.
