• Poland. 125 meters underground
In Poland, near Krakow there is a town called Wieliczka. It is unique of its underground part.
About nine years in Wieliczka mined rock salt, and today there remained a giant mine complex of underground workings.
At nine levels at a depth of 64 to 327 meters underground is totaling three hundred kilometers route (drifts) and about 3000 underground chambers. Let's go down to a depth of 125 meters, walk a few kilometers to the mine, look at the unique chapel and I'll show you how at this depth there is free wi-fi. As a bonus, I show some photos of Krakow.

Salt Mine "Wieliczka" in 1978 was included in the first list of World Cultural and Natural Heritage.

descended down (378 degrees) along the trunk Danilovicha with our conductor on a first layer (64 meters).

In the depths of a total spent about two hours and held for about two kilometers.

In all the way and then found sculptures and installations that illustrate the extraction and transportation of salt in the Middle Ages.

All sculpted group and architectural elements from the salt.

There were even horses.

In the mine at any time of the year the temperature around 14 degrees.

Here it mined rock salt until 1996.

The salt crystallizes even just on some walls.

In the mine a huge number of cells remaining after extraction of salt.

We go down even lower.

Such cylindrical rolled the miners salt blocks from the place of production to the so-called winze (winze connects the different levels of the mine). Along winze production raised to higher levels and the surface. Several of these units in the old days have been extremely valuable.

In one of the cells artificially created lake. Fake, but beautiful.

The biggest impression chapel. Several of them, this is called the Holy. King. It is the largest and richest underground temple. Height 12, length 54 and width 18 meters. Depth of 91 meters.

The monument to Pope John Paul II, he was a Pole. Now the mine - an object of pilgrimage.

About the Internet. In fact, the whole mine complex today - it is a great tourist attraction. Millions of tourists, ballroom, concert hall, gym, art gallery, spa, medical cameras, guest rooms, restaurant, conference hall, banquet hall, several chapels - all this under the ground.

is already fully explored by place, but a unique complex of historical significance remains.

In this room was free internet at a depth of 125 meters.

As promised, as a bonus a few pictures cloudy Krakow.

The Wawel Royal Castle.

At this time (during the repairs in the Czartoryski Museum) you can see the "Lady with an Ermine" by Leonardo da Vinci. Interesting painting and history.

Under the main market square (the floor. Rynek Główny). View of the Church of Our Lady, with which St. Mary's Trumpet Call is heard every hour - a trumpet to the four cardinal points.

A few meters below the area today, you can see the original foundations and medieval road. The square was built in the form of a square 200x200 meters in the thirteenth century.

The indoor shopping arcade on the square - Cloth Hall. First Cloth Hall in Krakow appeared together with the construction of the square.

Underground created a museum of history. Great fun was the definition of the weight and growth in medieval Krakow metric system. My weight in the metric system of the XIV century: Cracow 1 quintal, 1 stone, 1 hryvnia Krakow, Cologne fertona 2, 2 grains, 1 and 1 denarius obol.
