Walk to Cape Festningen
• Walk to Cape Festningen
All the same there is cosmic justice in the world!
After a crushing defeat to sea fishing in the area Storseisundet Bridge, Norwegian waters of Svalbard fully compensated for past failures. 30 minutes trolling in Cape Starostin we pulled six fishes cod and, no doubt, would have caught more if time allowed. But surprisingly not even that: none of the fishes was not caught for the mouth! Baubles randomly clung to the back, the belly or the gills. We can only guess how much it at the bottom of the fjord!
But before we go fishing we landed at Cape Festningen near Barentsburg. This is probably the most bizarre I've seen Cape - part of it is similar to a submarine rising from the bottom. All of this under the cut ...
By the way, all of our movement in the water occurs at such a handsome boat. Very easy to use, reliable and steady:
You can not say about the local fishermen who went out in the middle of the fjord on an inflatable boat. It looks dangerous:
In principle, the cape is visible from Barentsburg. But only near the open all of its grandeur and scale. Part of the cape - stone island resembling a submarine:

The Cape "bites" into the shore and a stone slab continues, like a wall:

You can see the power of nature. It seems that the mountain was once a flat plate, which eventually "stood on end":
Cape Starostin. It is worth saying a few words: the history of this place is connected with the life of one of the most famous Pomorie - Ivan Starostin. He prozimoval on Grumant (so-called Spitsbergen coast-dwellers, even before the official opening of the archipelago Willem Barents) 39 winters. While Starostin was almost the only resident of the archipelago. By the number of wintering Ivan Starostin set a record that could not beat one of these men, wintering on Svalbard:
was planning a meeting with a local grandfather Gena (pictured his house), but he was out fishing and we have not planted, and followed his example:
We had two fishing rods, caught by one. Fished since: spoon dipped in the 100 meters, then lifted and pulled. Wait - 3 minutes maximum. Then the fishing line is pulled and you lift the catch:
