Now the route is not for everyone, but I hope it's not for long. Kiev is ideal as the direction of travel during the May holidays, which we did at the time.

The whole trip took us four days, two on the road and two on walks around the city. The first day completely passed on the road, arrived in Kyiv in the evening, checked into a hotel and so overeat at a nearby restaurant, which forces a walk not already left.
The next morning, the first thing went to the Bessarabian market, located in the eponymous square not far from our hotel:

We got to Michael's Monastery - one of the oldest monasteries in Kiev. Includes destroyed in 1930 and re-built in the mid-1990s, the cathedral church in honor of the Archangel Michael in the Ukrainian Baroque style, as well as the refectory with the Church of St. John the Divine, and the bell tower:

According to legend, St. Michael's Cathedral was the first temple with a gilded top, where in Russia and went to this tradition:

Located in front of St. Michael's Monastery Hagia Sophia (St. Sophia Cathedral) - a temple built in the first half of the XI century, according to the Chronicle, Prince Yaroslav the Wise on the site of the victory in 1037 over the Pechenegs. At the turn of XVII-XVIII centuries it was rebuilt in the Ukrainian Baroque style:
