Healthy, but not really useful products
That would come baby-son to the father with the question of what is "good" and what is "bad" in the food - there was a big fight would be. Contradictions so that they can get caught without hope to find at least a grain of truth. Today, scientists and dieticians say one thing, tomorrow another. The fact that yesterday was considered useful, it is harmful, and vice versa.
On the one hand, the data is updated, because it is constantly conducted research and identified new properties of the products. But on the other hand, it takes journalists, bloggers and various "gurus", including the celebrities who treat all their own way and ultimately confuses the card. Worst of all, when it generates tenacious myths and pushes us to the dubious and harmful choice.
Based on the latest findings and recommendations of scientists, Daypic says, what "useful" products is better to be cautious, and what better not get round.
1. Low-fat foods
If out of the ordinary food to remove all the fat, it will taste like cardboard. Knowing this, manufacturers compensate for flavor, add the other ingredients are not the healthiest. Most often this sweeteners - sugar, glucose syrup or artificial substitutes.
And now attention: namely sugar, not fat makes you "fat", emphasizes the expert and mentor for a healthy lifestyle, Forbes columnist Jennifer Cohen. She advises to memorize it as an axiom: a low-fat food = junk food. Complete versions of the products is always preferable, and the usual balanced diet healthier diets for weight loss.
Moreover, it is possible that sooner or later the so-called fatty products will be officially recommended for use. It is, of course, about the natural products with natural content of saturated fat and not the sausage and cream cakes. A number of recent scientific studies have shown that natural saturated fats are largely blamed for nothing.
They do not cause heart disease
In 2010, as a result of two dozen epidemiological studies covering about 350 thousand patients has not been established absolutely no link between saturated fat and heart disease. The idea of the return, which zealously promoted for half a century, is based on unsubstantiated speculation.
They do not violate the metabolism
In 2015, scientists from several Norwegian universities conducted a study of a group of men and women over the age of 40. Some within 8 weeks of daily eat low-fat cheese, the other - the cheese "Gouda" 27% fat. In "zhiroedov" cholesterol levels did not rise and even more: those of them who were originally with the metabolic syndrome, cholesterol decreased significantly by the end of the experiment.
They do not contribute to obesity
This was confirmed in 2013 on the results of 11 different studies conducted together biochemists from the US and Denmark. Manifested even an inverse relationship: fatty dairy products consumers were slimmer lovers skim.
2. Gluten-free products
Gluten or gluten - a substance composed of protein cereals, especially wheat, rye and barley, which determines the quality of flour in many ways. Thanks to him, the dough turns elasticity, lush and retains its shape. For the overwhelming majority of gluten is completely harmless - just remember that people eat wheat already at least 10 thousand years.
But the fashion for gluten-free diet in recent years has transformed wheat "seed of evil". What did not hear from her hysterical followers: that wheat is toxic, addictive, allergies, bloating, obesity, inflammation throughout the body and even the supposedly affects the brain, causing mental disorders and dementia! As a result, easily suggestible people are switching to gluten-free, though not really know what it is. In fact, gluten intolerance, or, scientifically, celiac disease occurs in very small numbers of people on the planet (0, 5-1%). It is an autoimmune disease that affects genetically predisposed to an allergy to gluten. Products containing cereal proteins, causing them serious digestive disorders and disrupt the intestinal microflora. This is manifested in severe symptoms, affect the physical development and the psyche. Only such people needed gluten-free diet.
For most other products from whole-wheat flour, even better than other energy sources, such as potatoes, because the release of sugars during digestion of wheat is slower.
A study in 2010, spent a microbiologist at the Institute of Agricultural Chemistry and Food Technology in Valencia, showed that during the transition to a gluten-free diet without the need may be a drop in the immune system and reducing the number of beneficial bacteria in the gut with the increase in malware.
3. Detox drinks, smoothies
Someone once came up with that body must be regularly cleaned to remove some toxins, and that created another pseudoscientific "sect", and promote detox diets and detox products. Their aggressive advertising drowns physicians and other scientists, we see that the artificial "detoxification" - is a myth. If you're not a drug addict with the experience, you will never need a special cleansing of the body, because it perfectly displays all himself - through the liver and kidneys.
Many will say, well, let, it is useful for at least some time to sit in the juices of fruits and vegetables instead of the usual food, because they saturate the body with vitamins and help to lose weight. But nutritionists and then argue: it is unhealthy and short-lived fashion. First, adhering to the detox diet based juices, you consume about 1000-1200 calories a day - less than half that needed in the average adult. Yes, you lose weight, but, in fact, expose yourself to fasting. And when you return to normal eating, your body is temporarily deprived of feeding, begin eagerly to make up lost. Not only do you quickly restore the old weight, but increased it.
Secondly, when you squeeze the fruit in juice, lost part of dietary fiber, and the concentration of sugar - fructose - is increasing. As a result, even with a small cup, you seem to be getting pretty calories, but little or no benefit, because they do not feel saturated.
We should also be said about the smoothies. Unlike just juice, they are more nutritious, but they also can not be called healthy food. Most shops and cafes add skim milk or cream in fruit and berry puree (see para. 1), as well as extra sugar, syrups. Given the size of large glasses, you get a cocktail that contains ... to 1000 calories and 12-16 spoons of sugar!
4. Sushi and rolls
Well, what can be harmful fish, rice and seaweed, you ask. Jennifer Cohen replies, harmful "Western" version of the traditional Japanese dishes, complemented by unhealthy ingredients.
For example, the popular rolls "Philadelphia," "California" and the like, with mayonnaise, some other spicy sauce and cream cheese, all kinds of frying in oil - it's like to order a Big Mac in the "McDonald's".
In addition, and in the United States and Russia are accustomed to eat abundantly, so that the "healthy Japanese meal" for many becomes uphill unhealthy American fast food, whose deleterious effect is enhanced even in combination with a lot of sticky rice.
5. Superfudy "superpoleznaya" exotic food
Goji, acai berries, spirulina, chia, quinoa ... a familiar name? More recently, they paraded in the pages of the authors vypendrozhnogo gloss, non-poor ZOZhniki and hipsters, but now fashionable exotic berries, powders and seeds can be found in any large supermarket. They are credited with a lot of magical properties, including rejuvenation and almost healed from cancer.
In fact, these effects are often not scientifically proven or evident in the tests whose value is unreasonably inflated and distorted the meaning. For example, as pointed out by German scientists, goji berries from China were quick to call "anti-cancer", even though the study on which it is based, were not conducted with berries, or even with the juice, and with individual polysaccharides.
But that is precisely in berries goji because it phytic acid, which is not digested in the human body and forms insoluble compounds with minerals, preventing their absorption in the intestine. Because of this, intake of nutrients is greatly reduced.
"Why superfudy so tempting, easy to understand, - says the London nutritionist Petronella Reyvenshir. - Everybody likes a wonder drug that is slim, young, cures disease. And there you have presented "food of ancient civilizations" - the Incas, Aztecs, Mayans ... Of course, I want to believe in the wisdom of the ancients. Only no one thinks that those same Aztecs survived an average of 37 years, and probably would have gladly traded their chia and quinoa on a chicken with carrot. "
In general, according to nutritionists honest, to get involved in this exoticism is not necessary. It is unusual to our stomach and can cause a minimum of frustration. It is not known how it interacts with medications. And no one knows how it is grown and stored. For example, Spirulina (type blue-green algae), when grown in a "bad" water absorbs toxic substances and heavy metals. Not sure of the manufacturer - it is better not to take chances. And another tip from food experts: fashion, but questionable superfudy can perfectly replace the proven products from our bar:
- only 1 red apple as much antioxidants as 13 cups of juice of goji;
- in blueberries and currants not less vitamin C, than acai berries;
- flax seeds have a proven beneficial effect on the gastrointestinal tract, and are several times smaller than the chia seeds.
