Designed Studio Craig Steely Architecture private house without a roof is located in Atherton, in the heart of Silicon Valley in California, USA. Residence of 270 square meters, is made as open as possible at the request of the customer, who wanted to spend more time outdoors, taking into account the favorable climate. The complexity of the implementation of such a seemingly simple requirement is that the land for building was narrow and long, and on all sides it was surrounded by neighbors at home. The architects decided to focus on the look-up, where the blue sky and green trees crown pleasing to the eye, creating a house without a roof - a fenced space with an outdoor patio. Residential areas in the building are open space, blurring the boundaries between the inner and outer spaces through the sliding door and unity materials such as travertine on the floor and cedar wood walls inside and outside. A special feature of the project is a continuous curved wall on the perimeter, completely covering the house and blocking unwanted species, directing mind up and creating a lively play of light and shadow on the surface.
